1511/12、彼の運命を變へた最初の出來事が起こった。サントドミンゴのドミニコ會員の一人が、スペイン人のインディオにたいする非道を初めて非難したのを聞いた。この運動がスペインの王室を動かし、フェルディナンド二世のもとでインディアス政策を檢討するブルゴス會議が持たれ、ブルゴス法が制定された。
1512、ディエゴコロンはキュウバの征服軍を出動、彼の友人であったラスカサスも從軍司祭として加はった。この軍のなかにはHernán Cortés 148547もゐた。
この軍事行動でスペイン人がインディオにおこなった仕打ち、拷問と虐殺を目の當たりにしたラスカサスは強い良心の呵責を感じた。1514、從軍司祭を止め、農業に従事する隠棲のなかで聖書の教へるところと現實のスペイン人の行動との相違にキリスト教の司祭である彼の苦惱は強く激しいものになっていった。
1514/0815、ラスカサスに「第一の改心」が訪れる。彼は自分が所有するインディオ奴隷を海部し、自分のエンコミエンダを放棄し、エンコミエンダ制度の矛盾を聖母被昇天祭のミサで訴へた。
そして、翌年、インディアスで同じ訴へを持ったドミニコ會員と相談し、スペイン王室に狀況の改善を訴へるべく、モンテシノスとスペインに向かった。
が、國王フェルディナンド二世は逝去、攝政の二人の枢機卿に植民地の實状を訴へた。この時、彼が用意したのが『十四の改善策』で、エンコミエンダの廢止とインディオ虐待の即時中止、平和的なキリスト教の布教などの提案であった。すでにインディオは酷使と虐殺で數が減り、ラスカサスのその代替として西アフリカの黒人の利用もやむなしと考へてゐた。だが、これも人道上よくないと後には考へるやうになった。
ラスカサスの提案に、インディアス審議會が發足し、調査團の派遣が決定された。調査團はヒエロニムス會士によって構成され、ラスカサスはインディオ保護管として同行した。調査團の行動はラスカサスから見れば手緩いもので、まもなく兩者は對立するやうになる。彼等がスペインにに戻るとシスネロス枢機卿は病重く、間もなく死去。ラスカサスはカルロス一世（カアル五世）に謁見を求めた。
やがて、側近のジャンルソヴァジュの知遇を得ると、王の「暴力的行動の禁止と平和的植民のみの許可」の勅令を得た。これに力を得た彼はみづから植民團を率ゐて、クマナ地方で平和的植民活動を始めたが、植民者はラスカサスのもとを去っていった。インディアスのスペイン人たちにラスカサスへの反歌がが強くなり、身の危險を感じたラスカサスはドミニコ會士の勸めに遵ってドミニコ會に入會、修道院に入った。そこで『布教論』といふ著述をし、これが彼の第二の改心の機會になった。

出羽米沢の伊達政宗と会津の蘆名義広との合戦。伊達政宗が大勝し、南奥州の覇権を確立した。

二代將軍徳川秀忠の五女、和子が後水尾天皇の女御として入内。

この入内に京都の後水尾天皇の朝廷と徳川秀忠の幕府方との熾烈な驅引があった。

後水尾天皇159680が卽位すると、徳川家康154316は息子の二代將軍徳川秀忠157932の五女、和子の入内を申し入れた。
入内は大阪夏の陣や家康の逝去、後陽成院の崩御などで先延ばしになり、そのあひだに、後水尾は寵愛した女官、四辻與津子に二人の子を儲けてゐた。
これを幕府方は問題視した。面子を潰された思ひの秀忠自身が京都に乗り込み、宮中不行跡とし、天皇の側近を罰した。これに憤慨した後水尾は天皇退位で對抗しようとするが、幕府の使者となった藤堂高虎が天皇を恫喝し、與津子の追放と出家を強要した。
こんなすったもんだのうへで和子が入内したのであった。
後水尾の幕府への憤懣は強く、以後も何事に付け、幕府に抵抗を續けた。
その一つが、澤庵宗彭157346も絡む「紫衣事件」であった。

社会秩序の要因としての感情は、端的に言へば symphathy 同感 である。この同感とは、他人の感情および行爲の適切性 propety を評價する能力である。同感を通じて人々が自信の行動や感情が評價されてゐることを意識し、是認を望み避妊を嫌ふと考へた。
だが、つねに利害關係による對立があるから、個人が言動の適切性を測るための基準が必要であり、これを impartial spectator と呼び、これを意識し尊重しながら行動してゐると考へた。
但、fortune 偶然のもとでは公平な觀察者の評價と世間の評價が異なる場合がある。このやうな不規則性が社界的に重要な意義があると考へ、偶然かで公平な觀察者の評價を重視する者を wise man、逆の評價に從ふ者を weal man と呼んだ。
人間は自己規制 self command によって公平な觀察者に随おうとするが、激しい情念下では自己欺瞞によって公平な觀察者を無視しようとする矛盾した存在である。
