a virgin–martyr, venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, the Anglican Communion, and Lutheranism.

She is one of seven women who, along with the Blessed Virgin, are commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.
She is the patron saint of chastity, gardeners, girls, engaged couples, rape survivors, virgins, and the Children of Mary.

Agnes is depicted in art with a lamb, from the Latin word for "lamb", agnus. However, the name "Agnes" is actually derived from the feminine Greek adjective hagnē (ἁγνή) meaning "chaste, pure, sacred". She is also shown with a martyr's palm.

Takano no Niigasa was a concubine 夫人 of Emperor Kōnin 049光仁070982天皇 and the mother of Emperor Kanmu 050桓武073706天皇.
Niigasa est une fille de Yamato no Ototsugu (和乙継). Elle devient une concubine du prince Shirakabe (白壁王＝光仁天皇), petit-fils de l'empereur Tenji et donne naissance au prince Yamabe (山部王＝桓武天皇) en 737 et au prince Sawara (早良王＝祟道天皇) en 750.
Le prince Shirakabe est marié à la princesse Inoe (井上内親王071775), une fille de l'empereur Shōmu 045聖武070156天皇 en 744. Lorsque l'impératrice Kōken 046孝謙/稱徳071870天皇 meurt en 770, Shirakabe est désigné pour lui succéder et accède au trône sous le nom d'empereur Kōnin. La princesse Inoe et son fils, le prince Osabe 他戸親王076175, sont nommés impératrice et prince héritier respectivement, en raison de la noblesse de sa naissance.
Les fils de Niigasa ne sont pas considérés comme des successeurs possibles avant 772, quand l'impératrice est soudainement dépouillée de son rang à la suite d'accusations selon lesquelles elle a maudit l'empereur.
Le prince héritier, son fils, est également déshérité. Deux ans plus tard, ils sont morts. Bien que Niigasa ne devient pas impératrice, le prince Yamabe, son fils3 est nommé prince héritier et accède au trône en tant qu'empereur Kammu

高野新笠：光仁天皇の宮人、後に夫人。050桓武山部073706、早良親王075085、能登内親王073381 の生母。桓武天皇の即位後、皇太夫人。薨去後に贈皇太后、贈太皇太后。諡号は天高知日之姫尊。父は百済系渡来系の和乙継、母は土師真妹。父方の和氏は百済武寧王の子孫を称する渡来系氏族で、もとの氏姓は和史。「高野朝臣」は、光仁天皇の即位後に賜姓されたもの。

Taira no Kanemori est un poète waka du milieu de l'époque de Heian et un noble japonais.
Il fait partie des trente-six grands poètes 三十六歌仙 et un de ses poèmes est inclus dans l'anthologie bien connue, le Hyakunin Isshu 百人一首. Il est membre du clan Taira.

狩野尚信『三十六歌仙額』より

「しのぶれど色に出でけりわが戀は物や思ふと人の問ふまで」
百人一首に取られたこの彼の歌は『天徳内裏歌合』で、壬生忠見の「戀すてふ我が名まだき立ちにけり人知れずこそ思ひそめしか」と付け合はされた一首であった（兼盛の歌が勝ったため忠見は悶死したといふ）。
彼は当時の最有力の歌人として、歌合や屏風歌の席の常連で、生存中からいろいろ逸話の多い人物であった。

In the conflict over the Zurich Reformation process between Huldrych Zwingli and Konrad Grebel and Felix Manz, the Zurich city council takes a stand behind Zwingli. He decrees that children must be baptized by their parents no later than the eighth day after birth and forbids Grebel and Manz from believing baptism and teaching in their Bible schools. On the same evening, the two found the first Baptist church. The Catholic priest Jörg Blaurock becomes the first baptized person.

Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson (January 21, 1824 – May 10, 1863) was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, and the best-known Confederate commander after General Robert E. Lee.
Jackson played a prominent role in nearly all military engagements in the Eastern Theater of the war until his death, and played an important part in winning many significant battles.

Achim von Arnim (eigentlich Carl Joachim Friedrich Ludwig von Arnim;) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller.

彼は幼少期と少年時代を祖母とベルリンなどで過ごした。ベルリンのギムナジウム、ハレ大学とゲッティンゲン大学で法律と数学を学んだ。
兄と1801年から1804年までヨーロッパ中を教養旅行に出かけ、
1806年から1808年にかけて友人のブレンターノと四巻からなる民族童話集『少年の魔法の角笛』を共著した。
1808年にはドイツのロマン主義において重要となる(Zeitung für Einsiedler『隠者新聞』)をハイデルベルクで発刊。
1809年からベルリンに在住。Heinrich von Kleist 177711 も加わり(Berliner Abendblättern) を発刊。
1811年に (Deutsche Tischgesellschaft)、後の政治的な会合の場となるキリスト教的ドイツ談話会 (Christlich-deutsche Tischgesellschaft) を結成。
1813年の10月から1814年の2月まではドイツ日刊紙『プロイセン特派員』の編集者となった。

Itō Noe est une anarchiste japonaise, auteure et féministe qui fut en faveur de l'abolition et mariage et de l'amour libre contre le patriarcat.

雑誌『青鞜』で活躍。不倫を隠さず、結婚制度を否定する論文を書き、戸籍上の夫である辻潤を捨てて大杉栄の情人となり、四角関係を演じた。さうした情痴を演じつつ、人工妊娠中絶（堕胎）、売買春（廃娼）、貞操など論じて飽きない問題を論じ、多くの評論、小説や翻訳を発表した。
關東大震災の直後に憲兵隊による「甘粕事件」大杉榮188523とともに殺害された。

Count Katsu Kaishū was a Japanese statesman and naval engineer during the late Tokugawa shogunate and early Meiji period.

He went through a series of given names throughout his life; his childhood name was Rintarō (麟太郎) and his birth name was Yoshikuni (義邦). Katsu Kaishū eventually rose to occupy the position of commissioner (Gunkan-bugyō) in the Tokugawa navy. He is particularly known for his role in the surrender of Edo.
