彼の遺言「勝って兜の緒を締めよ」
1523大永03、氏名を伊勢から北条へと改めたと推測される。伊豆に傳統を持つ北条氏に肖ったものと思はれる。改稱から數年後には、執権北条氏の古禮に則り右京大夫の職を得て、家格のうへでも周圍の今川氏･武田氏･上杉氏らと同等になった。

Japan、戰國時代の「下剋上」の武將。室町幕府の摂津國守護代、相伴衆。細川春元の重臣であった三好元長の嫡男として、三好氏歴代の本貫地である阿波國三好で生まれた。
主家の管領細川政權を崩壊させ、室町將軍の12足利義晴152146･13足利義輝153665らを京より追放して三好政權を確立。
その後は、足利義輝･六角義賢･畠山高政らと爭ひながら、和戰兩用で畿内の支配を維持し「最初の戰國天下人」と呼ぶにふさはしい下剋上の典型として、彼の重臣であった松永久秀151077とともに惡名を以て評された。
連歌などの文藝にも親しみ、その道でも有名であった。
