Raleigh was beheaded in the Old Palace Yard at the Palace of Westminster on 29 October 1618. "Let us dispatch", he said to his executioner. "At this hour my ague comes upon me. I would not have my enemies think I quaked from fear." After he was allowed to see the axe that would be used to behead him, he mused: "This is a sharp Medicine, but it is a Physician for all diseases and miseries." According to biographers, Raleigh's last words (as he lay ready for the axe to fall) were: "Strike, man, strike!"

ゲッベルスは、宣伝や運動の面にかんしては左翼政党の方がはるかに優れているとの認識を持ち、彼らのやり方を手本とすることに躊躇しなかった。「シュプレヒコール、楽隊行進、職場での宣伝活動、街頭細胞システム、大衆示威行為、戸別訪問」などの左翼政党的手法にヒトラがミュンヘンで確立した運動スタイルと融合させた。
≫ 現代的な方法のみが我らを勝利に導く
≫ 革命には二つの方法がある。機関銃を持つ者には勝てないと敵が認めるまで、敵を掃射し続けるのが一つ。これは安易な方法。もう一つは精神革命による国家の改造。この方法なら敵を破壊することなく味方に組み入れることができる。最高の勝利は敵の殲滅ではなく、敵に勝者たる我々の賛歌を歌わせることなのだ。

このなかでエイヤは、意識をもつ「人間」と意識を持たない「機械」の区別を「異なったタイプの知覚的な振る舞い」の区別へと解消することを提唱している。この議論は1950年に出版された「チュリングテスト」、すなわち知性（意識）を示すための機械の能力テストの先駆である。
意識を持った人工知能の登場するなかで、人間は意識といふ特權を失ひ、壞れやすく狂ひやすい不完全な、下等な意識存在にすぎなくなっていく。
いや、考へやうによっては、壞れやすく狂ひやすい点をこそ特權として振舞ふところに人間の優位性を見せつけることになるのかも知れない（理性よりも狂氣のはうが強力な精神である）、

我々、人間は外部に反応して動くばかりで、すべてが機械的だと言はなければならない。

成し遂げたいと思っても成し遂げることなど到底できないのが我々の現實だ。
私自身が私自身を知ることはできない。私を教へてくれるのは他人だ。他人が私をどう思ってゐるか、どう扱ふか、私にたいしてどう振舞ふか、それを考慮して、自分自身をそれに合はせていく。云はば、鏡に映った自分に自分を同一化させていくのだ。

二十世紀といふ時代の人間について、人間の知性を突破しつゝある人工知能といふ最新の話題も重ねて「人間と機械」といふ構圖で思ひ考へるに、いい機會だらう。
その手懸かりとして（どうせ手懸かりだけしか書かないのだが）、ゲオルギイ･グルジエフが引用した東洋の小咄から始めよう ―― 端折って引用すると、

この魔術師のことがゲッペルスやヒトラを（今日の私に）殊更に想起させるのである。
いや、ヒトラやゲッペルスに限るまい。二十世紀の主人公となった大衆（羊）にたいして、支配的關係を作りださうとする者（それは國家であり、企業であり、マスメディアであり、そしてかうした事を書いてゐる私自身もまた）がかうした狡猾な魔術師になってゐるのだ。
｛時間切れ。最初からそのつもり。魔術師はあまり手の内を見せてはいけないからね。
二十世紀といふ時代の人間について、人間の知性を突破しつゝある人工知能といふ最新の話題も重ねて「人間と機械」といふ構圖で思ひ考へるに、いい機會だらう。

…… ついに魔術師はいいことを思いついた。彼は羊を催眠にかけ、羊たちに暗示した。第一に、おまえたちは不死身であり、皮をはがれてもだいじょうぶ。それは健康によいことで、気持ちいいぐらいだ。第二に、魔術師は良き主人であり、羊たちが大好きだ。羊たちのためなら何でもする。第三に、何が起こるにせよ、それは今日のことではないので、心配はいらない。さらに魔術師は、おまえたちは羊ではないのだと暗示をかけた。何匹かには、おまえたちはライオンなのだと言った。何匹かには、おまえたちはタカなのだといった。何匹かには、おまえたちは人間だと言った。何匹かには、おまえたちは魔術師だといった。このすべてを終えた後、魔術師はもう、羊のことで気をもんだり、心配したりすることがなくなった。羊たちはもはや逃げようとせず、魔術師が彼らの肉と皮を必要とする日が来るのをおとなしく待つようになった。 ……
この魔術師のことがゲッペルスやヒトラを（今日の私に）殊更に想起させるのである。
いや、ヒトラやゲッペルスに限るまい。二十世紀の主人公となった大衆（羊）にたいして、支配的關係を作りださうとする者（それは國家であり、企業であり、マスメディアであり、そしてかうした事を書いてゐる私自身もまた）がかうした狡猾な魔術師になってゐるのだ。
｛時間切れ。最初からそのつもり。魔術師はあまり手の内を見せてはいけないからね。
