Abu Aamir Muhammad bin Abdullah ibn Abi Aamir 093802, al-Hajib al-Mansur (Arabic: أبو عامر محمد بن عبد الله بن أبي عامر الحاجب المنصور) , better known as Almanzor, was for 24 years (0978–1002) the de facto ruler of Muslim Iberia (al-Andalus) under the Umayyad Caliphate of Córdoba (Arabic: خلافة قرطبة, translit. Khilāfat Qurṭuba). His rule marked the peak of power for al-Andalus.
1244/1202：ロウマ教皇「第一回リヨン公會議」開催へ

第一回リヨン公會議、フランスのリヨンの司教座聖堂で開催されたカトリック教会の公会議。教皇インノケンティウス４が（イタリアの支配圏をめぐって抗爭する）フリドリヒ２を弾劾すべく召集した。
最終的に、公會議はフリドリヒにたいし「平和の破壞者」「異端の嫌疑」といふ罪状を示し、皇帝權を剥奪した。が、

伏見天皇の第四皇子。母は、左大臣洞院実雄の娘、顕親門院･洞院季子。鎌倉時代の２つの皇統のうち持明院統に属する。
1308、大覺寺統の094後二条邦治128508天皇の急死で、十二歳で卽位。その在位の前半は父の092伏見熈仁126517上皇が、後半は兄の093後伏見胤仁128836が院政を敷いた。
1318、大覺寺統の096後醍醐尊治128839親王に讓位。
譲位後は、立太子された甥の量仁親王の養育にあたった。その時、訓戒のために記した『誡太子書』は、やがて來る動亂の時代を予感した内容になってゐる。
1335、圓觀のもとで出家。宗峰妙超128238と關山慧玄127761を師とし、仁和寺の花園御所を妙心寺とする。
歌道･学問･書道に優れ、特に和歌では京極派の主要人物の一人で『風雅和歌集』の監修を行っている。日記『花園天皇宸記』は宸筆の原本が今日に残る（宮内庁書陵部蔵）。読経や念仏を欠かさない信心深い人物であったという。

メディチ家を興したコジモ･デ･メディチの息男。だが、病弱であり、二代目の繼承が危ぶまれた。が、父の歿後、メディチ家を継いだ。
1466、反メディチ派と結んだフェララがフィレンツェを攻撃する。これを撃退。
1469年に五十三歳で沒去。どうにか無事にメディチ家を子のロレンツォ（イル･マニフィコ）に手渡した。

スペイン王国の将軍。El Gran Capitán と敬稱される。歴史家のなかには、1503年のチェリニュラ戦での彼の戰術の「火力と塹壕」の組み合わせを評価し、塹壕戦の開祖とする向きもある。

イサベル一世は彼の忠誠心と器量を評価した。1494年に始まったイタリア戦争では、彼をスペイン軍の司令官として選んで、イタリアに上陸したゴンサロは、ナポリ王のもとに五千の援軍を送り届けた。
1495、ゴンサロが率ゐるスペインとナポリの連合軍はフランス軍とイタリア南部カラブリアのセミナラで交戦した。
スペイン軍は敗北した。山岳戦やゲリラ戦が中心となったレコンキスタを戦ってきたスペイン軍は、フランス軍の騎兵とスイス槍兵を組み合わせた攻撃に対抗できなかった
この敗北はゴンサロにとって生涯で唯一の敗北となった。ゴンサロは多くを學んだ。そして、敗因をスペイン軍の編成そのものにあるとし、これを変革する必要性を強く感じた。↓
1507まで、ゴンサロはナポリの総督を務めた。
彼の功績があまりに大きかったため、國王フェルナンド二世の嫉妬と疑心を招いた。
1504年のイサベル一世の死はゴンサロにとって信頼できる後見人の喪失を意味したのであった。ゴンサロの軍費について、その杜撰な管理をフェルナンドは格好の口実としてゴンサロを解任した。
1515年、ゴンサロはスペインのロハで死去した。

メキシコのアステカ王國の征服者。
1504年、十八歳のコルテスは、Alonso Quintero 率いる船で、イスパニョラ島に渡り、植民者となった。キンテロの強引な驅引の手口をコルテスは實地で學習し、その後の彼の手法となった。
1506年、コルテスはイスパニョラ島とキュバの遠征に参加、多くの不動産とインディアンの奴隷を戰果とした。
1511年、コルテスはディエゴ･ベラスケス･デ･クエリャルのキュウバ征服に参加した。ベラスケスはキュウバを手に入れた。コルテスはベラスケスの秘書官となった。

1519年、コルテスはキュバ総督ベラスケスの命令に違反して五百の兵、馬16頭、帆船11隻を率いてメキシコ湾岸沿ひに進み、3月12日タバスコ川に到着、翌日の原住民との戦闘に勝利
ユカタン半島に八年前に漂着して居着いてゐたコンキスタドレスのヘロニモ･デ･アギラルとパイナラの族長の娘マリンチェとを通訳兼案内人としてメキシコの地に乘り込んでいった。
7月26日に兵の逃亡を防ぐため船を沈め、八月、メキシコ湾岸にベラクルスを建設した。
メキシコ高原に到ると、アステカの宿敵のトラスカラ人と戦闘、和睦して同盟を結び、さらにテスココなど各地の勢力とも同盟を結んでアステカへと向かった
10月16日、チョルラの虐殺を起こす。この虐殺についてのスペイン人による正確な報告はない。モクテスマ二世がチョルラの首長にコルテスを殺すやう命じたのを察知したコルテスはチョルラの要人の殺害を命じた（あるいはトラスカラ人が宿敵のチョルラ人に復讐するために仕掛けたとも云はれてゐる）。

原住民のインディオに白い神「ケツァルコアトル」の化身と思はれたコルテスに、アステカ王モクテスマ二世は「国をお返しいたます」と約束し、アステカの首都テノチティトランを詳しく案内され、アステカが予想以上に強國であることに気づいた。このとき、血塗られた神殿にも案内された。まだピクピクと動いてゐる心臓が銀の皿に乘ってゐた。
その後、モクテスマの心變はり、コルテスの一時テノチティトラン撤収 ベラクルスに戻り、ナルバエスのキュウバ總督追討軍を夜襲で撃破すると、その兵を傘下にテノチティトランに戻る。
戻った時には、アステカに殘してきた百二十名の兵がアルバラドの指揮のもと、祭儀中のアステカ人を虐殺し、これに激怒したアステカ人により狀況は爭亂状態になってゐた。
1520年6月29日、コルテスは反乱を起こしたアステカ人をモクテスマに説得させようとしたが、激怒した市民は國王モクテスマ殺し、6月30日には暴動はさらに拡大して、コルテスは命からがらテノチティトランを逃れた。この戦闘でスペイン兵千名ほどが死に、スペイン側ではこの日のことを「Noche trisste」と呼んでゐる。
7月12日、トラスカラに到着したコルテスはテノチティトラン再征服の軍備を整えた。
アステカ人はモクテスマの繼承者にクイトラワックを選んで団結したが、スペイン軍が持ち込んだかたちになった天然痘が蔓延して、クトラワックは在位わずか八十日で死去、代はって25歳の勇敢な戦士クアウテモックが王に仕立てられた。

1521年、コルテスは五万余のスペイン兵･トラスカラ･テスココの連合軍でアステカに侵攻、メキシコ中央盆地の都市を攻略して4月28日にテノチティトランを包囲した。それから三カ月以上の攻防の末、8月13日にテノチティトランは陥落した。クアウテモックは捕らへられた。

1523年、コルテスはスペインのカルロス一世1世（カアル五世）から総督に任命され、カリフォルニア南部を探検した。同時に、ホンジェラスやニカラグアへ遠征隊を派遣した。入植者たちには、広大な土地を与へ、労働力にはインディオを牛馬のやうに労働させ、奴隷として扱った。

1525年2月26日、クアウテモックを反乱の嫌疑で絞首刑に処した。アステカは滅亡し、メキシコはスペインに併合された。

1527年、スペインに一時帰国、1529年、バジェ･デ･オアハカ侯爵に封ぜられる。
1530年にはメキシコに戻り、大エンコメンデロとして莫大な富を築いた。
1540年、スペインに帰国。総督への再任を請願するも、却下される。
1547年12月2日、セビリャ近くのカスティリェハ･デ･ラ･クエスタで死去。遺体は遺言により、メキシコシティと改称したテノチティトランに、自身が建てたへスス病院内の礼拝堂に埋葬。

1525年、ザビエルは十九歳で名門パリ大学に留学。聖バルブ学院に入り、自由學藝を修めてゐるとき、フランス出身のピエル･ファヴルと同室になる。さらに、ザビエル同様にバスクからパリに出てきた37歳のイニゴ（イグナチオ･デ･ロヨラ）とも相知った。イニゴはパンプロナの戦闘で片足の自由を失ひ故郷のロヨラ城で療養の後、スペインのアルカラ大学を経てパリ大学モンテギュ学院で学んでゐたのであった。
1534年8月15日、ロヨラ、ザビエル、ファブルとシモン･ロドリゲス、ディエゴ･ライネス、ニコラス･ボバディリャ、アルフォンソ･サルメロンの七人が、モンマルトルの聖堂において神に生涯を捧げるという誓願を立てた。これが「モンマルトルの誓ひ」であり、イエズス会の創立であった。
ザビエルは日本人について「この國の人々は今までに西洋が出会った国民のなかで最高の人々であり、日本人より優秀な民族は異教徒のあいだでは見つけられないでせう。彼らは親切であり、一般に善良で悪意がありません。それに、驚くほど名誉心の強い人々で、他の何ものよりも名誉を尊重します」と褒めちぎってゐる。

16th-century German-Flemish cartographer, geographer and cosmographer. He was renowned for creating the 1569 world map based on a new projection which represented sailing courses of constant bearing (rhumb lines) as straight lines—an innovation that is still employed in nautical charts.
1530年にルヴェン大学に入学、幾何学･天文学･地理学などを学んだ。
1534年からは、有名な数学者のゲンマ･フリシウスと、地球儀や日時計、アストロラベなど科学機器製作を始め、1537年までつづけ成功を収めると、地図や海図の彫版の制作にも着手した。
1538年に出版されたメルカトルの初めての世界図は、北アメリカと南アメリカという地名を最も早く記載したものの一つであった。また、この地図では、アジアとアメリカが別大陸として描かれてゐる。
1569年には、メルカトルの名を不朽にした世界図が完成した。1.32×1.98 meter の大型の地図であり、記載された地名は豊富で、多くの注記も記されていた。この世界図では、ヨロッパやアフリカの形態はすでにプトレマイオスの影響から脱していたが、東アジアやアジア･アフリカの内陸の部分ではまだプトレマイオスやマルコ･ポロの記述に拠ったものとなってゐる。

旧姓「Mikogami Tenzen (神子上典膳)」、後に出世して「Ono Jiroemon Tadaaki（小野太郎左衞門忠明）」was a Japanese samurai of the early Edo period, who was renowned as a swordsman. He founded the Ono-ha Ittō-ryū（小野派一刀流） style of swordsmanship after his teacher made him head master of the Ittō-ryū.
He was one of two official sword masters for Tokugawa Ieyasu（徳川家康154316） and his style, along with Yagyū Shinkage-ryū（柳生新陰流） became one of the official ryūha 流派 of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
戦国時代から江戸時代前期にかけて劍術の腕で旗本にまで出世し、徳川将軍家指南役となった。。
1593文禄02年、師匠の伊藤一刀齋景久の推薦で徳川家康に仕官して二百石の禄高を與へられた。二代將軍徳川秀忠の剣術指南となり柳生宗矩157146の新陰流と雙璧の徳川将軍家劍術指南役となった。このとき、名を神子上典膳吉明から小野次郎右衛門忠明と改めた。小野は忠明の母方の旧姓であり、忠の字は指南役に付いた秀忠の一字を偏諱したものと云はれる。

During Waldron's period as house pianist for Prestige Records in the late 1950s, he appeared on dozens of albums and composed for many of them, including writing his most famous song, "Soul Eyes", for Coltrane.
Waldron was often an accompanist for vocalists, and was Billie Holiday's regular accompanist from April 1957 until her death in July 1959.
