一九三〇年の九月二十七日、空前絶後のゴルフ四大タイトルを年間グランドスラムして傳説となった Bobby Jones 190271 云はく、
「今日の好綢は明日には消えてしまふ。これと保ちつづけることは誰にもできない。
「ゴルフは（私が知るかぎりのゲイムのなかで）やればやるほど難解になっていく唯一のゲイムである。
「ゴルフが私にひどく腹立たしいゲイムである理由の一つは、かつて深刻に学んだはずのことをその場になるといとも簡単に忘れ、あれほど矯正したはずの欠点といつまでも鬪はなければならぬ自分を發見しなければならないからである。

熊谷氏は桓武平氏、平貞盛??0989の孫、維時の六代孫を稱する。
直實の祖父が勅勘を蒙り、父の代から大里郡熊谷郷の領主となり熊谷氏を名乘った。
平家に仕へてゐたが、源頼朝114799が石橋山に決起して以來臣從して、御家人となった。
後覺悟するところあって法然113312のもとで出家して蓮生と僧號した。

『平家物語』の「敦盛最期」の場面で、平敦盛の相手となったのは直實の話は傳説となり、これが日本のドラマの主題として好まれ、能曲や歌舞伎などで繰り返し描かれた。

美濃齋藤氏の家臣で美濃國大野郡の城主、竹中重元の子として誕生。通稱、半兵衛。
織田氏の家臣であった羽柴秀吉の參謀に取り立てられ、黒田官兵衛（考高）とともに「兩兵衛」と賞された。

だが、彼の逸話や美談は後世の創作によるもので、彼の實像については不明といふほかない。｛さう云ひだしたら史實の大半がさういふことになってしまふのだが、

櫻吹雪の彫り物は、眞僞定かではない。

幕末の時代に長門國の長州藩士の家に長男として誕生。後は三人の妹が生まれた。
十歳頃に疱瘡を患った。藩校の明倫館に入り、文武兩道を學ぶ。

1857安政四年、吉田松陰183059が開いてゐた松下村塾に入塾、久坂玄瑞184064･吉田稔麿184164･入江九一183764らと知り合ふ。
1858、藩命で江戸に遊學。次の年、松陰が安政の大獄で江戸傳馬町に捕囚となると面會に行き、松陰から
「死して不朽の見込みあらばいつでも死ぬべし。生きて大業の見込みあらばいつでも生くべし」
を遺言のやうに授けられる。藩命により晉作が歸藩の途中、松陰は處刑される。
1860十一月、長州一の美人と云はれたまさ（山口町奉行井上平右衞門の二女）と結婚。

1854/0927：幕末の歌舞伎俳優 八代目市川團十郎182354、自害

その容姿によって人氣を得たが、三十二歳にして謎の自殺を遂げた。

七代目團十郎と妻すみの長子として江戸に誕生。生後一ヶ月で初舞臺に乘せられ、二代目市川新之助を名乘る。
數へ年三歳六代目市川海老蔵を襲名。十歳の時に、父が五代目市川海老蔵を名乘ったのにあはせて？、八代目市川團十郎を襲名した。

面長の美顔で、天保の改革で火の消えたやうな江戸芝居に明るさが戻ったのは、この八代目の登場によるところが大きいと云はれる。その風姿にはおっとりとした男氣の愛敬と度胸とがそなはり「男ぶりはすぐれて美男子といふにあらねど、いはゆる粹な風情で、色氣は零れるほどあれども嫌味なく、すましてをれども愛敬があり」と『俳優百面相』に褒めあげられてゐる。そのうへ、よく通る高音の利いた科白囘しが天性のもので、まさに役者になるために生まれてきたやうな人であった。
ところが、
1854嘉永七年、大阪にゐた父の海老蔵を訪ね、名古屋で一緒に舞臺を勤め、七月には大阪に入り、道頓堀で船乘り込みをして稽古にかかったが、初日となる日に旅宿で自害した。動機は一切不明。後にいくらも臆説がなされてゐるが。
獨身で後繼がなかったので、實弟の初代河原崎權十郎が九代目を襲名した。

｛私は、晩年のドガにかんしては彼の年若い友人となった Paul Valéry 187145 の『Degas, Danse, Dessin』などで識った。頑固で偏屈で、意地惡で口の惡いな老人だった。それで余計にドガが好きになった。
