北アフリカで行われたガイウス・ユリウス・カエサル派と元老院派及びヌミディア王国連合軍との戦
ヌミディア軍の騎兵と戦象部隊に圧倒されカエサル軍は一敗地に塗れ、クリオは敵陣に斬り込んで戦死した。また、カエサル軍兵士の大半も戦死、降伏した兵の多くも殺害され、カエサルが送り込んだ北アフリカ征討軍の殆どが壊滅した。

『日本書紀』では、自身九州に遠征し熊襲や土蜘蛛を征伐、東國には「日本武尊」を派遣して蝦夷を征討した。が、『古事記』では「倭建命」がどちらにも派遣され、休息もあたへず邊地への遠征を命ずる父にたいして「私に死ねと思はれてをられるのでせうか」と不滿を叔母である伊勢神宮の倭姫命に洩らす場面などがあり、悲劇の英雄としてより造形されてゐる。

熱力学第一法則・第二法則の定式化、エントロピーの概念の導入など、熱力学の重要な基礎を築いた。
｛ Carnot 179632 と Clausius 182288 が同じ日に死んでゐたとは、あまりの偶然に愕いた。
Wikipedia：1824年、カルノは、熱量は保存され、熱が高温から低温へと移動するときに仕事が発生するという理論を組み立てた。この理論は1840年代後半、Wトムソンによって世に広まった。一方、同じ頃に、熱そのものが仕事に変化し、また仕事も熱に変化するというジュウルの測定結果が、おなじくトムソンなどによって世に認められるようになった。しかし、この2つの理論は互いに矛盾するように思われた。そのため、トムソンは初め、ジュウルの測定結果のうち、「仕事が熱に変化する」という箇所については否定的な見解を示していた。 これに対しクラウジウスはジュウルの理論を受け入れ、熱と仕事は互いに変換可能だと考えた。しかし、カルノの理論を完全に捨て去ることもしなかった。ここから、熱に関する二つの原理が生み出される。
