恵心院 （比叡山延暦寺横川兜率谷）

比叡山に出家して十五歳となった源信は『稱讃淨土經』を講じて、時の村上天皇に下賜された褒美の布帛を故郷の大和國の當麻にゐる母に贈ったところ、母は息子の慢心を誡める和歌「後の世を渡す橋とぞ思ひし、世渡る僧となるぞ悲しき」に「まことの求道者となりたまへ」と添へて、その品を送り返した。これにより（でもなく元々その心積もりであったらうが）源信は横川にある恵心院に隠棲し、念佛三昧の求道者となって大成した。

山名宗全140473が死に、その二ヶ月後には相手の東軍の細川勝元151973も死に、翌年の四月には兩氏の和睦はなったが、この戦闘に參加した武將はなかなか鉾を収めず、完全な終結までにはさらに後四年もかかった。

1888、38歳、不眠症に悩まされるやうになり奇行が目立つやうになり、麻醉藥を濫用するやうになる。この年のパリ万博を機に作られたエッフェル塔へ強い嫌惡感を抱き、それを見ないためにエッフェル塔のレストランで食事をするやうになった。
1891、發狂。翌年には自殺未遂を起こしてパリの精神病院に収容。そして、43歳となる1893、その病院で息を引き取り、モンパルナスの墓地に葬られた。
彼の精神異常の原因は先天性の梅毒だとされる。
