今日、四月一日は１８９１年、フランスの画家、Paul Gauguin 184803 が世紀末に爛熟する西洋を見限って、南太平洋のタヒチへと旅立った日だ ――
私の、人間の歴史への興味と關心のひとつの契機となったのが 彼が描いた名作（繪そのものといふより、そのタイトル `D'où venons-nous ? Que sommes-nous ? Où allons-nous ? 我々はどこから來て、何者であり、どこへ行くのか`に私は感じたのであったのだが）に、私はスフィンクスに問ひかけられた謎のやうに、わざとらしく難問に見做して挌鬪するやうに思ひ考へてきたのであった。
「人間」と答へ、「あっち」から來て「こっち」へと指させばいいのは解ってゐる。
だが、では人間とは何者なのか、homo erectus, homo sapiens, homo cogitus, homo faber, homo rire, homo clamatus, homo iratus, homo gewaltus, homo demens.... 古今東西、その解答に苦勞した前人たちの、あまりに多くの種類の解答は正解なきかのごときを私に思はせたのであった。
しかし、この「人間」が一刀兩斷に解けなければ、この痴愚にまみれた歴史はどこまでも邪惡さだけを増しながら續いていくことになるだらう …… と悲觀と絶望の歴史の天使となりながら ……

1772/0401(明和09/0229)：日本[江戸]「明和の大火」

江戸、目黒行人坂から出火。失火元は、目黒の大圓寺。原因は、武州熊谷無宿の眞秀といふ僧侶による放火。
この日、午後一時頃に發生した火災は南西からの強風に煽られ、麻布･京橋･日本橋を舐め、江戸城下の武家屋敷を燒きつくし、神田･千住方面へと擴がっていった。一旦は、刑場の小塚原あたりで鎭火したものの、夕刻頃に本郷から再び出火、駒込･根岸を燒いた。翌日の晝頃には鎭火したかにみえたが、翌々日の晝前に博勞町付近から出火、東へと燃えひろがり、日本橋あたりがすっかり燒け落ちた。
死者17000人、行方不明4000人を越えた。

眞秀は火付盗賊改方頭の長谷川宣雄[長谷川宣以の父]配下により、明和09/0401頃に捕縛、二ヶ月後、市中引き囘しのうへで小塚原で火刑に處せられた。

1891/0401：フランス画家ゴウギャン、ヨウロパを脱出、タヒチへ

Le peintre Paul Gauguin se lance de Marseille française à Tahiti.

この日、Vincent van Gogh 185390 との共同生活を切りあげた Paul Gauguin 184803 は、西洋近代といふ「人工的かつ因襲的な何もかも」からの脱出を思って、原始を求めて南洋のタヒチに船出した。
が、タヒチでの生活はたちまち經濟的逼迫と、健康も蝕まれていった。が、描くところの世界は生の充實感に溢れて、彼の傑作の森の時代となった。

ゴギャンは詐欺師の本性を持ってゐた。彼は文章もよく書いたが、その告白の内容はあることないこと、アテにはならないものであった。その点で、眞っ正直なゴッホとは対照的なクセの多い男であった。

1893/08 にフランスに戻り、タヒチで描いた繪を売りに出した。ゴッホよりは売れた。
1895/0628、ふたたびタヒチに旅立った。九月にタヒチ到着、その後の六年間、徐々に繪も安定して売れるやうになり、生活は經濟的には安定していった。郊外に家を建て、廣大なアトリエを構へた。
だが、惡化する健康と借金の重荷が彼を絶望へと追ひ込んでいく。そんななか、彼は遺書でも作るやうにそのタイトルからして大作めいた D'où venons-nous ? Que sommes-nous ? Où allons-nous ? （我々はどこから來て、何者であり、どこへ行くのか）を1887年に描きあげると自殺を試みた。未遂に終った。まだまだ、彼は生きて辛い人生を味あはなければならない運命にあった。

タヒチが住みにくくなると、さらなる原始の樂園を求めてマルキズ諸島にゴギャンは移っていったが、そこもすでに西洋によって荒らされてゐた。ゴギャンと同じ西洋人が殘していったのは害毒ばかりであった。
1901/0916、マルキズ諸島のヒバオア島に到着、その港町に住んだ。翌年には健康はさらに惡化した。その町で、ゴウギャンは島内の國家憲兵を勤めるフランス人の汚職を摘發する。が、逆に名誉毀損で告發され、罰金五千フランと禁錮三ヶ月の刑をくらふ。ゴギャンは控訴すべく、資金集めに奔走してゐるうちに、0508の朝、死んでゐるのを發見される。

｛ゴウギャンの生涯を物語として讀みたければ、イギリス人の Somerset Maugham 187465 が彼をモデルにして書いた『月と六ペンス』1919がある。ゴギャン自身の自傳『 ノアノア』1901は虚實入り亂れたものとされてゐる。

｛2015/0207、ゴギャンの油繪 Nafea Faa Ipoipo（いつ結婚するの）1892作 がプライベートセールにかけられ、史上最高額となる（日本円でおよそ360億円）で落札された、ニュウスが世界を驅け巡った。

｛繪は惡くないが、それにしても３６０億円とは …… ゴッホにしろゴギャンにしろ（自分の繪がこんなことになってしまふとは）草葉の陰でどう思ってゐることだらう。バブル絶頂期の日本が６８億円出してゴッホの『ひまはり』を史上最高額で買って三十年後、有名繪畫はおよそ五倍ほども高くなったといふわけだ。まったく、キチガヒじみた世界に生きてゐるといふ實感がしてくる。やっぱり、この現代は病んでゐる。

阪急電鐵の前身となった箕面有馬電氣鐵道を商業した小林一三187357が、沿線を活性化させるための呼び物として（三越少年音楽隊や白木屋少女音楽隊を參考に）作った『寶塚唱歌隊』が前身となり、寶塚温泉にあった室内プウルが閉鎖されるとそこを活用して、温泉場の餘興として、少女を歌舞させることにした。
1913/12に『寶塚少女歌劇養成會』と改稱、尋常小學校卒業したての少女を集め（大卒者並の俸給をあたへ）、翌年のこの日、寶塚新温泉で開幕した。
初演の演目は、桃太郎を題材にした歌劇『ドンブラコ』、『浮かれ達摩』、ダンス『胡蝶』、洋楽合奏と合唱などであった。

新温泉入場者は無料。入場者數は平均1100人/日、次第に増えていった。以後、數年間は、正月/春期/夏期/秋期の年四回公演が中心となった。

調べてみたら、この時、この時の大流行が特別なものでもなかったやうだ。それこそ、古代のギリシア、中世のインドでも、近代のフランスでも、それこそ世界各地でこの種の遊戲がおこなはれてゐた。呼び方はそれぞれ違ってゐたけれど、子供も大人も、貴婦人さへもが遊び興じた。
日本では「手車」と呼ばれて江戸時代に流行した。その後も、間を置いて、流行した。
第二次世界大戰以後も、何度か世界的流行が起こってゐる。そろそろ、またはやりだすかも知れない。

Der deutsche Spielfilm Der blaue Engel unter der Regie von Josef von Sternberg mit Marlene Dietrich in der Hauptrolle wird in Berlin uraufgeführt. Das Drehbuch stammt von Carl Zuckmayer, Karl Gustav Vollmoeller und Robert Liebmann nach dem Roman Professor Unrat von Heinrich Mann.


この映画の原作となった Heinrich Mann 187150 の Professor Unrat 1904 だが、これを彼と弟 Thomas Mann 187555 の Mario und der Zauberer 1930 と比べてみたくなった。少々無理筋だらうが、そこが腕の見せどころである。
