 is signed in what is now Provincetown Harbor near Cape Cod.

The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony. It was written by the male passengers of the Mayflower, consisting of separatist Congregationalists who called themselves "Saints", and adventurers and tradesmen, most of whom were referred to by the Separatists as "Strangers". Later both groups were referred to as Pilgrims or Pilgrim Fathers. The Separatists were fleeing from religious persecution by King James of England.

The river makes a crescent-shaped curve between Dürnstein and nearby Krems an der Donau, and the battle was fought in the flood plain between the river and the mountains.

In Jerusalem, Virginia, Nat Turner is hanged after inciting a violent slave uprising.

Nut Turner：an enslaved African American who led a rebellion of slaves and free blacks in Southampton County, Virginia on August 21, 1831. The rebels went from plantation to plantation, gathering horses and guns, freeing other slaves along the way, and recruiting other blacks who wanted to join their revolt.

Turner hid successfully for two months. When found, he was tried, convicted, sentenced to death, and hanged.
彼の決起反乱は二日以内に制圧されたが、ナット自身は捕まることなくその後二ヶ月ほどを逃亡潛伏するも10月30日、洞穴に潜伏中を発見され逮捕された。即刻、11月5日、裁判にかけられ、即日、死刑宣告された。
11月11日、バアジニア州のエルサレムで絞首刑となった。絞首刑では滿足できなかったのか、その遺骸は皮を剥がれ、頭を切り離され、四分五裂されたうへ、それらは土産に白人が持ち歸った。

an Australian bushranger, outlaw, gang leader and convicted police murderer. Recognised as the last and most famous of the bushrangers, he is best-known for wearing a suit of bulletproof armour during his final shootout with the police.

｛Nut Turner につづき Ned Kelly 。同じ日に「ストレンジフルウツ」に吊された「極句惡人」にたいし、アメリカ人もオウストラリア人もきはめて同情的であった。英雄視した。
権力に反抗したその生涯は幾度も小説で物語られ、映画化された。「ケリのように勇敢に（as game as Ned Kelly）」は、オウストラリアでは一般的な表現となっている。

長門国出身。吉田松陰183059の松下村塾に最年少となる十四歳で入學、最後の門下生となる。
二十五歳、戊辰戦争で官軍の指揮を任され、西郷隆盛182877から「あの小わっぱ、用兵の天才」と褒められた。
岩倉使節団の一員としてフランス訪問した際、『ナポレオン法典』に「法律は軍事に優先する」ことを自得し、以後、武から文へ移り法律の研究に没頭する。その後、約九年にわたり司法大臣として近代國家の骨格となる明治法典の編纂にかかはった。

川上一座は書生や壮士ら素人を集めたもので、バンカラの書生芝居･壮士芝居と呼ばれた。1891明治24、二月、堺市の「卯の日座」で旗揚げ。同年のうちに東京の「中村座」で『板垣君遭難実記』などの時事物を上演。たちまち東京でも「オッペケペー節」が大流行とあいなった。

ドイツ流の観念論を「借り物思想」として排し、個々人の「生活事実」を思考の立脚点とした。本来は庶民の生活維持のために作り出された国家の諸制度が、歴史の過程で自己目的化していくのを鋭く批判した。英国流のリベラリズムで国民主義的な言論活動を繰り広げ、職人とその世界を深く愛し「日本および日本人」の探究をライフワアクとした。
かうして、如是閑は『日本的性格』で日本人性を綜括して、日本人の多角的な性格を掲げ、生活の場面にこそ本能的な美を希求する習性、対立や矛盾を解消するのではなくむしろ併存させようとする感性、いつ役立つか判然としないような修養を大切にして備える指向性、外来の文化を異化するよりも親和することを好む気質、また、自然の全体よりもその部分において変化を読み取る季節感といった特徴について、多面的な論考を加えている。
