｛といふのが史實だが、民衆はそれに滿足せず、光秀生存説を物語り始める。光秀は生き延びて、例へば、江戸時代を背後で差配した南光坊天海153643になったのだとか、 ―― 生き延びて別の英雄になったといふは、日本人が好む英雄傳説の型である。古くは壬申の亂で敗れた大友皇子064872、平安朝時代の平將門??0940 、鎌倉時代の源義經115989、みな生き延びたことになってゐる。光秀をさうした英雄の一人として見るなら、彼にたいする見方も變ったものになってくるだらう。彼の人氣のなさの原因は倒した相手が織田信長であったせゐかも知れない。

Guerre de Quatre-Vingts Ans＝八十年戦争とは：1568~1648（1609～1621の12年間の休戦をはさみ）ネデルラントの諸州がスペインに反亂した戰爭。この戰爭の後、オランダが誕生したため『オランダ獨立戰爭』ととも呼ばれる。この結果として、ネデルラントの十七州のうち、北部の七州はネーデルラント連邦共和国として獨立することになった。北部七州は、1581にスペイン国王フェリペ2世の統治權を否認し、1648のウエストファリア条約で獨立が承認された。

1700/0702(元祿13/0516)：鍋島光茂163200、死去

徳川（江戸）時代の大名。肥前、鍋島藩の第二代。

彼はそれまで慣習としておこなはれたゐた殉死を禁止した。殉死を禁止されたなかに、小姓として彼に仕へてゐた山本常朝165919（あの武士道の聖書ともいふべき『葉隱』の語部だ）がゐた。殉死できなかった彼は出家し、時代傍觀者となり、段々加速度的に腑抜けになっていく武家を見て、その不滿憤懣をぶちまけたのが『葉隱』となった。

有名な一節を引用すれば、

武士道といふは、死ぬ事と見付けたり。二つ二つの場にて、早く死ぬ方に片付くばかりなり。別に仔細なし。胸すはつて進むなり。圖に當らぬは犬死などといふ事は、上方風の打ち上りたる武道なるべし。二つ二つの場にて、圖に當るやうに分る事は、及ばざる事なり。我人、生きる方が好きなり。多分好きの方に理が付くべし。若し圖に外れて生きたらば、腰抜けなり。この境、危ふきなり。圖に外れて死にたらば、犬死氣違ひなり。恥にはならず。これが武道に丈夫なり。毎朝毎夕、改めては死に死に、常住死身になりて居る時は、武道に自由を得、一生落度なく、家職を仕果すべきなり。

「武士道は死狂ひなり。一人の殺害を數十人して仕かぬるもの」と直茂公仰せられ候。本氣にては大業はならず。氣違ひになりて死狂ひするまでなり。又、武道に於ては死狂ひなり。このうちに忠孝はおのづから籠るべし。

≫ 言葉の厳密な意味では、眞の民主主義は存在したことがないし、これから存在することもない。それは、多数派が支配し少数派が支配されるといふ、自然な體制に反してゐるのだから。

≫ あらゆる人間の知識のなかでもっとも有用でありながら、もっとも進んでゐないものは、人間についての知識であるやうに思はれる。

 

と云ひながらも、ルソウはこんなことを云ってゐる。

≫ 人間とは本質的に善良であり、堕落しているのは社界のほうである。｛社界とは人間で構成されたものである。人間が本質的に善であるならば、社界の惡はどこから發生するのか。社界は人間自身が作りだしたものであり、神からも自然からも與へられたものではない。ならば、人間が善ならば社界もまた本質的に善でなければならない。人間は善で社界は惡、かういふ欺瞞が人間を革命へと向かはせるのだ。社界が惡ければ、人間が惡いにきまってゐる。さうした自己認識が人間はできないのだ。

La frégate française en raison de Méduse courir l'incompétence des commandants sur la Banque Arguin hors Afrique de l'Ouest en raison. Sur les 400 personnes à bord, plus de la moitié dans les semaines à venir tués, la plupart d'entre eux sur un radeau de fortune, car colombages dans les canots de sauvetage est pas assez d'espace.

The French frigate Méduse struck the Bank of Arguin and 151 people on board had to be evacuated on an improvised raft, a case immortalised by Géricault's painting The Raft of the Medusa.

彼の遺書とも云ふべき最後の大作『Glasperlenspiel ガラス玉演戲』より ――

≫ フェユトン（現代のマスコミ文化をこの小説のなかではかう呼んでゐます）時代の末期には、精神が、精神自らがもはや耐えられないほどの自由を享受するやうになつた、つまり、教會の監督を完全に克服し、國家の監督も部分的に克服してしまつたが、自分たちで作り出し尊重するような眞の法律、眞の新しい權威、法則の裏付けは、見出せずにいた。この時代は、精神が品位を落とし、買収されやすくなり、自己を放棄するに至つた實例を數多く傳えているが、それは全く驚くばかりである。
この時代を特徴付けるフェユトンに就いて、明解な定義は困難であるが、それは日刊新聞でも特に愛好された部分で、無數に生産され、教養を求める讀者の主要な栄養となり、知識の無數の事項に就いて報道した、というより「漫談した」ものらしい。フェユトンの實作者の中には、多く自分の仕事を自嘲する傾向があつたが、そのやうに讀まなければ不可解な多數の作品が産み出された。彼等は多く、自由な文士であり、時にはしばしば詩人と呼ばれる者であつた。しかも多數は學者階級に屬していた。
我々が訝しく思うのは、大衆がそういうものを毎日の讀み捨てに讀んだという事實よりも、名聲も地位も教養もある者が實作者となつて、興味本位の態度で巨大な消費に「奉仕する」役を買つて出たという事實のほうである。
ひところ、時事問題に就いて、有名人に質問する事が好まれた。例えば、著名な化學者やピアニストに政治について發言させ、俳優や舞踏家運動家、パイロットや詩人に、獨身生活の功罪やら金融危機の推測原因等について質問する事が。
察するところ、この熱心な努力の全體に、皮肉がたつぷり混じつていた。おそらくは惡魔的な皮肉が。
このフェユトン時代、教養がかつて持つていた概念を喪失していたにも拘らず、この時代の人々は教養の概念にまだ大いに執着していたので、専門家や精神的切取り強盗の輩によつて、論文の他に講演も大量に提供された。これも理解しがたいほど大量に行われた。こういう講演では、聽衆は終始全く受動的であつた。

≫ フェユトン時代全盛の時期に既に、至る所で、孤立してはいるが目覺めた集団があつて、精神をあくまで見捨てず、傳統や躾や、極力知的な良心をこの時代の彼方まで救つていこうと決意していた。

≫ 堕落に對する第二の点は、東方巡禮者の同盟であつた。その兄弟たちは、知的な修業より魂の修業を行い、敬虔と畏敬との氣持を涵養する事に勤しんだ。この方面から、精神育成とガラス玉演戯の今日の形式は、特に暝想的な面に向つて、重要な刺激を受けた。

Rainer Maria Rilke 187526 の『マルテの手記』も、このなかの一册として世に出たのだった。

燃やしてしまった金閣寺、その殘骸の無慘な有樣は、熱愛した金ピカの女を強姦して殺してしまったやうな ―― と三島通庸183588や水上勉191904らのこの事件を題材にした小説を讀んで、私に浮かんでくる感想であった。やればかならず後悔する。そんな予感はこの犯人の若い僧にはなかったのだらうか。それでも、やらなければ後悔はやってこないか。

アメリカの作家は全員が狂氣に冒されてゐる。Nathaniel Hawthorne 180464 や Edgar Allan Poe 180949、Herman Melville 181991に始まり、以後今日にいたるまで異常の陳列だ ―― これがアメリカ文學にたいする私の印象と感想だ。彼等のみならず、アメリカ全體の狂氣を考へてしまふ。
そのなかで、ヘミングヱイなどはまとものはうかと思ったが、彼もまたアメリカを病んでゐたのであった。

日本の映画監督、女を主人公にした文藝物を多く作った。
同時代の巨匠、溝口健二189856は成瀬の映画について「あの人のシャシンはうまいことはうまいが、いつもキンタマが有りませんね」と評してゐる。ま、そんな感じではある。

James Stewart の魅力を「どこにでもゐさうだけど、どこにもゐない男」と評した人があった。さうだなとまったく私も同感であった。
彼の映画のなかで私が一番好きなのは、John Ford の『リヴァティ･ヴァランスを撃った男』だ。共演した John Wayne も私には彼の最高の演技に感じた。その映画で彼が演じる役がまさに「どこにもでゐさうだけど、どこにもゐない」男であった。
