今日、フランスで大統領選擧の結果が出る。有力な四候補者の支持率が伯仲、大接戦、まさに四分五裂の状態と云ふべきか。これでは誰が大統領になってもフランスの混迷は續くことになる。
過去の歴史も今日はフランスの日であった。
1792年の今日、同じ日になんとギロチンとラマルセイエズとが誕生 ――
パリで革命政府公認のギロチンが公開處刑の場でお披露目され、また地方都市のストラスブウルでは一人の軍人によって後にフランス國歌『ラマルセイエイズ』の作詞作曲がなされてゐた。
三色國旗のフランスだから、トリコロウルにもう一つ、ギロチンとラマルセイエズともう一つ、何がいいだらうか。エッフェル塔でもいいけれど、みんなで考へてみませう。

｛マクベスの史實は当然のことだがセクスピアのドラマとは異なってゐる。なによりの相違は、彼が簒奪した王位を長期間にわたって維持したといふ点だらう。
それに、歴史上を見渡せば、マクベスの所業は飛び拔けて惡辣だったわけではない。むしろ、すべての政權鬪爭はそのやうにおこなはれた。だが、物語は彼を罰した。罰することで物語となるのだ。

1533、Henri II 155947 は Catherine de' Medici 151989 と結婚した。ディアヌはこの婚姻を支持した。ディアヌとカトリヌは二人とも名門貴族 Maison de La Tour d'Auvergne の血筋を引いてゐた。
二人はしかしライヴァルでもあった。年の差は二十歳あったが、ディアンヌは美貌を保ち、それだけではない魅力でアンリの寵愛を受けつづけた。
ディアンヌにはカトリヌに子ができないのを氣遣ひ、そのための對策をアンリにするほどの度量といふか年の功も持ち合はせてゐた。おかげでカトリヌは多くのアンリの子を生んだ（十人）。ディアヌはそれらの子の教育係を買ってでた。王子らはディアヌの影響を受け、その一人の François II 154460 と結婚させられた Mary Stuart (Queen of Scots) 154287 も同じ宮廷でディアヌの養育を受けた。
ディアンヌにはアンリの子は惠まれなかった。それはカトリヌとの關係には都合よかった。
ディアヌdeポワチエはアンリの死まで二十五年以上も彼の愛人であり友人でありつづけ、大きな影響力を持ちつづけた。
アンリの死が近づくと、實權を握ったカトリヌはディアヌが王に近づくのを制限した。死後、カトリヌは國王の贈り物の返却をディアヌに求めた。ディアヌが王の葬儀に呼ばれることはなかった。

Le voleur Nicolas Jacques Pelletier est exécuté le premier homme avec le introduit au cours de la guillotine Révolution française. L'exécution est effectuée par le bourreau Charles Henri Sanson sur la place de Grève à Paris.ジョゼフ･ギヨタンの提案により「単なる機械装置の作用（ギロチン）」による死刑の執行がフランス國民議會で採擇。

Joseph Guillotin 173814：内科醫で博愛主義者、フランス革命期の政事家。彼は1789/1010に國民議會に「フランスの死刑に機械的な裝置を導入する」事を提案した。
いはゆるギロチンのやうな斷頭器具はすでに十三世紀には存在してゐた。彼がこの提案をなしたのは、それまでの處刑方法は、貴族には比較的苦痛の少ない斬首刑であったが、平民の銃犯罪者には車裂きや八つ裂きなど過酷な處刑がなされてゐたので、革命フランスにおいては、死刑の方法も萬人平等にする方向にすべきであり、これに則ったかたちでギロタンは斬首刑への統一を主張したのであった。しかし、實際運用となると、死刑執行の擔當者の意見として、斬首の執行の難しさが云はれ、うまくいかない場合の苦痛の大きさが指摘された。これにたいし、ギヨタンは單純な機械的裝置を用ゐることで失敗をなくすことができるだらうと提案した。
實際の裝置の設計は外科醫のアントワヌルイに委ねられた。試作品は、ドイツの鍵盤楽器製作者のトピアスシュミットが担当。彼は閃いて、斧の形状を從來の半月系から45度の角度を持った斜刃にした。それは「ルイゾン（あるいはルイゼット）」呼ばれた。
だから、ギヨタンのギロチンにたいする關係と貢獻は直接的なものではなかったが、この法令の責任者であったため、この新工夫の斷首裝置は彼の名で呼ばれるやうになった。このことを彼はおほいに嫌った。
ギヨタン自身は人道的な博愛主義者であり、死刑の廃止を望んでゐたが。ギロチンはその第一歩となるものだと期待してゐた。公開處刑を止めることも主張してゐた。

ちなみに、ギヨタン自身がギロチンによって處刑されたといふのは、まったくの作り話（当時JMVギヨタンといふ醫師がギロチン處刑された事實があり）それが誤解のもととなったのであらうか。彼の死因は左肩の癰 carbuncle であった。
ギヨタンは斷首裝置が自分の名で呼ばれてゐるのが心外で強く抗議したが、一度流通してしまった名稱は改められることはなかった。せめてもの彼にとっての慰めは、この呼び名が彼の子供といふ意味で Guillotine ギヨティヌ と呼ばれ、それが英語讀みで世界一般化してギロチンになったため、いくらかでも彼の姓であるギロタンから遠ざかってくれたことであったらう。

定説によれば、1792/0425、フランス革命政府がオウストリア帝國への宣戰布告の報を受けたストラスブウル市長の要望を受けた、當地駐屯中の Rouget de Lisle 大尉がこの日の夜から翌朝にかけて一氣に作詞作曲した。その時の題名は『ライン軍のための軍歌 Chant de guerre pour l'armée du Rhin 』であった。大尉はこれをライン方面軍の司令官に獻呈した。それが、全國に流布され、パリ入城したマルセイユ連盟兵が口すさんでゐたのがパリジャンに流行した。その後、1795/0714に國民公会で國歌として採用された。
