今日、四月七日は、マッチがイギリスの薬剤師によって考案され、新発売された日だ。
マッチと云へば、私は寺山修司193583の短歌が想起される。敗戦後に作られた短歌で（多分）唯一私が記憶してゐるものだ ――
また、この日は西洋音樂の名曲が多く發表された日でもある。
三十六歳のバッハが1724年のライプチッヒで『ヨハネ受難曲』を初演し、1780年には二十四歳のモウツァルトがザルツブルグで『ミサ』を披露し、1805年には同じオウストリアはウインで三十五歳のベトベンがナポレオンへの失望にもめげず『エロイカ交響曲』を（そしてほゞ二十年後の1824年には『ミサソレムニス』を）初演した日でもある。
どうしても私の世界史は文化史･藝術史、思想史･精神史的傾向を帶びてしまふ。

Justinianus I 048365：東ロウマ帝國皇帝（0527~65）。後世に「大王」と讚へられたやうに古代末期の最重要の人物。その治世は東ロウマ帝國に繁榮と領土擴大をもたらしたが、その覇業は0543に大流行した黒死病（ペスト）が拒んだ。
彼の文化的業績は、ロウマ法を統合して編修した Corpus Iuris Civilis であり、これが今でも多くの大陸法の基礎となってゐる。
