今日は、今年の二十四節氣の「清明」の日。天地に清新の氣が滿ちてくる頃。また、この日（こっちのはうは四月四日ときまってゐる）「あんパンの日」でもあるさうな。
明治八年の四月四日に、明治天皇に文明開化の新商賣を始めた木村屋が、獨自に工夫して西洋と日本を合體させた「アンコ入りの麺麭」を獻上した。それを記念して、四月四日が「あんパンの日」になった。その後、あんパンに味を占めた木村屋は「ジャムパン」も發明した。

なつかしく思ひだされるあのおいしさはもう二度とは味はへない種類のおいしさなのだらう。
また、
この日は「どらやきの日」とか「しあわせの日」とか「トランスジェンダの日」とか好き勝手に制定してゐるが、 四月四日が三月三日と五月五日の眞ん中にあるといふだけの理由による「判じ物」にすぎない。日本にはこの種のダジャレめいたものによる記念日がやたらと多い。
私も今！きらめいた、ひらめいた！「うっしっし」の日、（四月＝卯月（うづき）の四月四日で「うっしっし」、ダジャレもこゝまでくればゲイジツと云っていいだらう、日本語のファンタジスタと自畫自贊。

：Stuart 期のイングランドは國教會による王の絶對主義を國是としてゐたが、時代の経過は經濟的な變動が錯走し、絶對主義が國是となった Tudor 期とは樣變はりしてきてゐた。
：三十年戦争では、1624フランスの呼び掛けでデンマクノルヱイを對ハプスブルク同盟に引き込むために王室は財政難になってゐた。
：1625に王位繼承したCharles I 160049は硬直的で、王權神授説を盲信して議會と對立、大陸の戦火がイングランドにも飛び火してきた。
：イングランド内戦は、1641アイルランドのカトリックが蜂起して樹立したアイルランド革命から始まった。
：1642、イングランドでも王と議會との對立から第一次内戰が四年間續いた。
：スコットランドでは、二度にわたる主教戰爭を經て1644、盟約派と國王派とがスコットランド内戦を始めた。
：イングランドではピュウリタニズムの影響が民衆に擴がり、次第に大規模かつ過激化していった。國王派と議會派との内戰は議會派が勝った。その議會派には内部對立が生じ、第二次内戰が1648から翌年にかけて勃發、國王James I 156625が處刑された。
：1649イングランドは共和政を樹立した。だが、アイルランド、スコットランドとの三つ巴の抗爭は収まらず、 Wars of the Three Kingdoms が始まる。アイルランドでは現在にも尾を引いてゐるアイルランド問題の發端となったクロムヱルのアイルランド侵略が1649から四年間にわたりおこなはれた。
：1652にはオランダとの第一次となる戰爭が始まる。
：1653、軍功をあげたOliver Cromwell 159958が Lord Protector 護國卿に就任。1654、今度はスペインとの戦争を始めて、ダンケルクを占領した。しかし、護國卿體制は五年で破綻する。
：かうした清教徒革命は、1660の王制復古により破綻し、三國とも王制に戻った。しかし、かっての王國時代には戻り得ない。再び議會との溝は深まり、それがやがて名誉革命の下地となり、絶對君主制から立憲君主制への動かしがたい歴史動向がはっきりとしてくる。
：清教徒革命は王朝がめざしてゐた絶對主義からの脱却といふ天で、市民革命の魁として見ることができるが、名誉革命とあはせてイギリス革命として認識されることが多い。

122明治睦仁185212天皇に、木村屋の「あんパン」が獻上される。文明開化の麺麭を商賣にした木村安兵衛は、二男の英三郎の發案で麺麭の中に餡を入れることを思ひついた。
パンとアンの合體、西洋と日本との最初のハイブリッドだった、かも知れない。
この後、二十五年後、三代目の儀四郎は、パンの中にジャムを入れることを思ひついた。これも大當たりした。

On April 3, King addressed a rally and delivered his "I've Been to the Mountaintop" address at Mason Temple, the world headquarters of the Church of God in Christ. King's flight to Memphis had been delayed by a bomb threat against his plane. In the close of the last speech of his career, in reference to the bomb threat, King said the following:
And then I got to Memphis. And some began to say the threats, or talk about the threats that were out. What would happen to me from some of our sick white brothers?
Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. So I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.
King was shot by James Earl Ray at 6:01 p.m., April 4, 1968, as he stood on the motel's second-floor balcony. The bullet entered through his right cheek, smashing his jaw, then traveled down his spinal cord before lodging in his shoulder. Abernathy heard the shot from inside the motel room and ran to the balcony to find King on the floor. Jackson stated after the shooting that he cradled King's head as King lay on the balcony, but this account was disputed by other colleagues of King; Jackson later changed his statement to say that he had "reached out" for King.
